Custom Wildlife Tours

PRIVATE. CONSIDERED. WILDLIFE-FIRST.

A safari shaped around how you actually want to travel.

We design private wildlife journeys across India and Africa around your interests, pace, comfort, budget and available time.

The work goes beyond booking rooms and vehicles. We consider seasons, reserve access, permits, zones, guide quality, accommodation location, daily travel and the time needed in the field. We also say when an itinerary is trying to do too much.

WHO IT IS FOR

Different travellers need different safaris.

First-time safari travellers

Clear comparisons between destinations, stay styles and trip lengths, with realistic expectations about wildlife, roads and daily routines.

Wildlife photographers

More deliberate pacing, suitable vehicles, field time, light direction and guide conversations planned by people who understand photography.

Families & private groups

Sensible transfers, age-appropriate days, rooming and meal considerations, and enough flexibility for the people actually travelling.

Repeat safari guests

Less obvious landscapes, species-led planning, deeper field time and combinations that add something genuinely new.

THE SAFARI REALITY

Thoughtful planning improves the foundation. It never guarantees a sighting.

Season affects water, vegetation, access, animal movement and the character of the landscape.

Location can determine how much time is spent reaching the wildlife area rather than observing it.

Permits and zones matter in India; route freedom, reserve rules and conservancy access matter in Africa.

Guiding and time often have more influence on the quality of a safari than adding another destination.

DECISIONS WE HELP YOU MAKE

Not simply where to go, but how to experience it.

01

Focused or wide-ranging?

More time in one landscape usually means better field rhythm; a circuit adds variety but also transfers and unpacking.

02

Drive or fly?

Road journeys may add context and value. Flights save time, but affect luggage, cost and ground arrangements.

03

Lodge or field-led stay?

We compare comfort, location, atmosphere, access and guiding—not star labels alone.

04

Private or shared vehicle?

A private vehicle gives control over pace and positioning; a shared drive can reduce cost but requires compromise.

FIELD EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE PLAN

Recommendations shaped by time outside the office.

Founder Sanjay Nair brings more than sixteen years of wildlife photography and field experience to Safari Lab. The team’s relationships with guides, naturalists and operators help us ask better questions about a route before recommending it.

This does not mean pretending to know where an animal will appear. It means understanding why guide continuity, departure time, gate location, vehicle format, permits and patience can materially change the experience.

HOW PLANNING WORKS

From an open brief to a workable journey.

  1. 1

    Tell us the essentials

Travellers, dates, departure city, approximate budget, preferred pace and wildlife priorities.

  2. 2

    We compare the practical options

Destination fit, routing, permits, stays, vehicle choices and the trade-offs between them.

  3. 3

    You receive a tailored proposal

A day-by-day plan with stay plan, inclusions, exclusions and clearly identified choices.

  4. 4

    We refine and coordinate

Once the direction is right, we adjust the details and manage confirmed arrangements.

USEFUL TO KNOW

Before you enquire.

Do you sell fixed packages?

Our private journeys are quotation-led and customizable. Existing itineraries are useful starting points, not rigid products.

Can you plan both India and Africa?

Yes. We plan wildlife travel across both regions and will recommend a route only where we can support it responsibly.

Can you guarantee wildlife sightings?

No responsible operator can. We build a sound plan around season, access, time and local expertise, while keeping expectations honest.

How early should we begin?

Earlier is better where permits, limited camps or peak seasons are involved. Even if your dates are not final, an early conversation can clarify feasibility.

TALK TO A SAFARI PLANNER

Start with the wildlife journey you have in mind.
