WHY SAFARI LAB

We know Tadoba beyond the safari gate.

Our first journeys here date back to 2008. That experience shapes how we approach every safari, from choosing a suitable gate to finding the right people to guide you.

Safari Lab field experience in Tadoba.

Tadoba is a network of safari landscapes, not a single gate with a collection of interchangeable hotels. Our photography journeys began here in 2008, and years of returning have built practical knowledge of its entry points, surrounding villages, forest roads and local guiding community. We use that experience to match your dates and interests with the right combination of permits, accommodation and transfers. The result is a safari planned around the forest you will actually enter—not simply the first available lodge or the most familiar gate name.

A connection since 2008

Our first Tadoba journeys began in 2008. Years of returning as wildlife photographers have given us first-hand familiarity with the forest, its changing tourism landscape and the practical decisions that shape a successful trip.

Guides we know from the field

Our photography journeys have built long-standing relationships with experienced local guides. We value their ability to read tracks and alarm calls, understand wildlife behaviour and position a vehicle responsibly. We discuss suitable guiding arrangements for your safari, subject to the applicable roster and availability.

Four regions. Many different gates.

Tadoba is not one interchangeable safari zone. Moharli, Kolara, Navegaon and Pangdi–Zari each have their own network of core and buffer entry points. We understand how these gates relate to one another, which forest areas they access and where a lodge should be based for your confirmed safari plan.

Beyond the online gate list

The wider Tadoba landscape continues to develop new tourism opportunities, including territorial-forest safari areas. Our local relationships help us stay informed about emerging options. We verify the current operating status, permissions and booking process before recommending any gate that is not available through the regular online system.

Permits, stays and transfers together

We work backwards from your dates and available safari entries. A lodge near one gate may be inconvenient for another, even within the same broad region. We compare realistic road transfers, morning departure times, gate combinations and the number of drives before recommending accommodation or confirming a route.

DISCOVER THE DESTINATION

The forest is the experience.

Tadoba–Andhari Tiger Reserve is a landscape of dry deciduous forest, bamboo, lakes and open clearings in Maharashtra. Its Bengal tigers are the headline attraction, but the forest is also home to leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs, gaur, deer and a remarkable variety of birds.

For Safari Lab, Tadoba is a familiar landscape. Our first journeys here date back to 2008, and our photography background has helped us build long-standing relationships with experienced local guides. We plan safari permits, gate locations, accommodation and transfers together, creating a journey that gives you time to enjoy the forest.

THE KNOWLEDGE BEHIND YOUR SAFARI

The geography behind a better Tadoba safari.

Four broad tourism regions, several core and buffer entry points, and an evolving network of surrounding forest areas. Understanding how they fit together is where experienced planning makes a difference.

Moharli & Khutwanda

The southwestern approach includes Moharli and Khutwanda core entries, with buffer options around Agarzari, Devada, Adegaon, Junona and Mamla. Some gates access adjoining forest, while others have distinct routes and landscapes. We compare the actual entry point, lodge location and transfer before deciding which combination makes sense.

Kolara & its buffer network

The northern and northeastern approach includes Kolara core and buffer areas such as Madnapur, Kolara Churadeo, Sirkada, Belara, Palasgaon and Alizanza. These are not all the same gate or the same drive. Our planning considers which entries are available, how their forest areas relate and whether one accommodation base can serve the proposed safari schedule comfortably.

Navegaon & the northern landscape

Navegaon has its own core entry and a network of northern buffer access, including the Ramdegi–Nimdhela landscape. It connects to the wider Tadoba forest but has its own approach roads and accommodation considerations. We do not assume that a lodge near Kolara or another northern gate is automatically convenient for every Navegaon-area safari.

Pangdi–Zari & the southern forests

Pangdi and Zari provide access to the southern forest landscape, with buffer areas including Pangdi Aswal Chuha, Keslaghat and Zari Peth. This is a different logistical proposition from the more frequently visited northern and southwestern approaches. We plan it around the actual entry points, available stays and road connections rather than adding it casually to an itinerary based elsewhere.

New and territorial-forest options

Tourism opportunities in the wider Tadoba landscape continue to evolve. Some emerging territorial-forest safari options may not yet be available through the regular online booking portal. Our local network helps us stay informed, but we never treat an announced, proposed or locally discussed gate as a confirmed safari. We check the responsible authority, operational status, booking process and availability before including it in a proposal.

How we turn that knowledge into your trip

We begin with your dates, number of travellers, preferred number of drives and budget. We then compare available permits, suitable gate combinations and accommodation locations, followed by realistic Nagpur transfers and daily departure times. If the most suitable gates are far apart, we may recommend a different lodge, a split stay or a revised safari sequence. Your proposal identifies the actual safari arrangements and inclusions rather than relying on a generic park-wide itinerary.

We had a wonderful experience with Safari Lab. The tiger safari they arranged for us was absolutely amazing and truly unforgettable. They were incredibly supportive throughout our entire journey and went above and beyond to assist us. What impressed us the most was their availability even at 5 a.m., they answered our calls and helped us whenever we were stuck or needed guidance. Their team is reliable, responsive, and genuinely cares about their customers. They even sent us thoughtful goodies (their label caps), which we really appreciated. Overall, we are extremely happy with their services and would highly recommend Safari Lab to anyone looking for a trustworthy and dependable team.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Before you set off.

How many nights should I spend in Tadoba?

Two nights and three days is a useful starting point. Three or four nights allow more safari time and a more relaxed pace. We recommend the duration around your travel dates, interests and available permits.

How do you choose the right safari gate?

We consider your accommodation, travel time, available safari permits and preferred experience together. No gate or zone can guarantee a tiger sighting, and the final allocation is subject to the Forest Department booking system.

Can you arrange core and buffer safaris?

Yes. We can discuss suitable core and buffer options according to the applicable booking rules, seasonal access and permit availability. Both offer wildlife experiences, and we do not treat a particular zone as a guaranteed sighting location.

When should I book, and is Tadoba open all year?

Popular dates and safari permits can sell out, so it is sensible to plan early. Core and buffer access, weekly closures and seasonal restrictions can differ. We check the current official rules and available permits before confirming your itinerary.

What is included in my quote?

Your personalised proposal specifies the accommodation, meal plan, transport, safari sessions, permits and guide arrangements included in your particular journey. Any optional activities, supplements and exclusions are shown separately.

Can you arrange a private or photography-focused safari?

Yes. We arrange private custom journeys and selected group options. Tell us about your photography interests, preferred number of drives and available dates. Any specialist vehicle, guide or photography arrangements are subject to availability and confirmed in the quote.

How do I get to Tadoba?

Nagpur is a common arrival gateway. The road transfer depends on the gate and lodge selected, so we plan the route after choosing the accommodation and safari area rather than assuming a single transfer time for every stay.

Are tiger sightings guaranteed?

No. Tadoba is a wild landscape, and every sighting depends on natural animal movement, habitat and conditions. Our approach is to plan a rewarding forest experience with sensible safari time, not promise a particular animal or sighting.

What happens after I enquire?

Share your travel dates, number of travellers, preferred comfort level and approximate budget. We will discuss suitable stays, safari options and transport, then provide a personalised proposal with the itinerary, inclusions and price for your review.
