Years measured in field days
Repeated visits and stays of up to sixteen days at a time have given us a working familiarity with Nagzira’s routes, water bodies, seasonal changes and daily safari rhythm.

QUIETER FOREST SAFARIS · MAHARASHTRA
Lakes, bamboo, teak-covered hills and intimate forest tracks. Explore Nagzira with a team that has returned for years—sometimes staying sixteen days at a stretch to understand its animals, guides and routes.
WHY SAFARI LAB
Nagzira is a forest Safari Lab has returned to repeatedly, with the patience its quieter tracks reward.

Our familiarity comes from years in the field here, including extended stays and long sequences of back-to-back drives. That experience is most useful in practical choices: which entrance matches the route, where to stay, which local guides understand the forest, and when to slow down rather than chase reports. Nagzira is part of the larger Navegaon–Nagzira Tiger Reserve, but the sanctuaries, tourism blocks and gates within that system are not one interchangeable safari product.
THE SAFARI LAB DIFFERENCE
Repeated visits and stays of up to sixteen days at a time have given us a working familiarity with Nagzira’s routes, water bodies, seasonal changes and daily safari rhythm.
We work with experienced local guides whose tracking, birding and knowledge of individual routes add depth without turning the safari into a race for sightings.
Nagzira, New Nagzira, Navegaon and the wider NNTR landscape must not be treated as one gate. We identify the actual tourism block and reporting point before choosing a stay.
Nagzira is especially rewarding for leopards, wild dogs, sloth bears, herbivores and birds. Its lake and compact tracks make small changes in the forest unusually readable.
Accommodation, meals, permits and transfers are matched to the confirmed entrance so early safari time is not lost to avoidable road travel.
SAFARI LAB JOURNEYS
Begin with a quiet forest escape or stay longer for the patient field time Nagzira deserves. We’ll tailor the route, stays and experiences around you.
2N / 3DCUSTOMISABLE SAFARI
Nagpur → Nagzira → Nagpur
A compact journey with accommodation and drives planned around the confirmed Nagzira entrance.
Day 1: Travel from Nagpur or another suitable gateway, check in and take an afternoon safari where timings and permits allow. Day 2: Morning and afternoon drives. Day 3: Breakfast, checkout and onward transfer. The final programme confirms the entrance, drives, lodge and inclusions.
We'll confirm the day-by-day programme, accommodation, transfers and inclusions in your personalised proposal.
3N / 4DCUSTOMISABLE SAFARI
Nagpur → Nagzira → Return
An additional night creates a slower rhythm and more time for different habitats, routes and wildlife behaviour.

We'll confirm the day-by-day programme, accommodation, transfers and inclusions in your personalised proposal.
4N / 5D or longerCUSTOMISABLE SAFARI
Nagzira · Extended field time
For photographers and naturalists who prefer repeated observation, experienced guides and a forest that reveals itself gradually.
We build the journey around your field-time preference, wildlife interests, available permits and suitable accommodation. Longer NNTR combinations are designed only after checking current tourism blocks, gates and road connections.
We'll confirm the day-by-day programme, accommodation, transfers and inclusions in your personalised proposal.
These are customisable itinerary starting points, not fixed departures. Final accommodation, availability, prices, park fees, activities and inclusions are confirmed in your personalised quote.

YOUR SAFARI, YOUR WAY
Chorkhamara and Pitezari are different approaches, and accommodation near one should not be assumed convenient for the other. Pitezari also has an FDCM eco-tourism complex described as being inside the core forest, subject to current booking and operating arrangements. We compare the confirmed entrance, meal expectations, room facilities and transfers from Nagpur, Gondia or Sakoli before recommending where to stay.
DISCOVER THE DESTINATION
Nagzira is part of the wider Navegaon–Nagzira Tiger Reserve, a connected conservation landscape spanning several protected areas across Gondia and Bhandara. Within Nagzira, wooded hills, bamboo, mixed deciduous forest and water bodies create an intimate safari experience. Leopards, wild dogs, sloth bears, gaur, deer, tigers and diverse birdlife share a forest where a change in alarm call or the direction of chital on a track can become the day’s most memorable moment.
THE KNOWLEDGE BEHIND YOUR SAFARI
The reserve name covers multiple protected areas and evolving tourism access. We keep the itinerary tied to the exact gate and forest block.
Navegaon–Nagzira Tiger Reserve includes Navegaon National Park, Navegaon Wildlife Sanctuary, Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, New Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary and Koka Wildlife Sanctuary. A permit or lodge described only as “NNTR” does not tell you which forest experience or gate is involved.
Chorkhamara is a key Nagzira tourism approach with its own accommodation and road considerations. We confirm the specific gate or tourism block shown on the booking rather than assuming every Chorkhamara-labelled option is identical.
Pitezari is approached from the Sakoli side and has separate safari and accommodation logistics. The FDCM eco-tourism complex associated with this approach may offer a distinctive stay, but inventory, facilities and access must be checked for the requested dates.
NNTR tourism and administration continue to evolve, including newer or reopened buffer access such as Murdoli. We verify whether a gate is active, the landscape it serves, its booking channel and the road connection before suggesting it.
Our advantage here is not a promise of a named animal. It is knowing guides who understand the forest and recognising how particular routes, water and seasonal cover affect the drive. The plan leaves room for patient tracking rather than constant gate-to-gate changes.
We begin with dates, travellers, desired drives and accommodation level. Then we match current permits, gate, guide arrangements, meals and transfers. If an attractive stay is inconvenient for the confirmed safaris, we explain the trade-off and recommend a better base.
THE WILDLIFE EXPERIENCE

Water, wooded slopes and changing light give Nagzira a quiet visual centre and concentrate a remarkable range of forest life.

Nagzira’s compact, broken terrain can be rewarding for leopard observation, though every encounter depends on natural movement and patience.

Dholes, sloth bears, gaur, deer, birds and tigers make this a richly layered forest rather than a single-species destination.

A special mention to our guide, Gabriel, who was knowledgeable, courteous, and just as enthusiastic as we were about spotting wildlife. QUESTIONS ANSWERED
We have returned to Nagzira for years, sometimes staying sixteen days at a time and completing long sequences of drives. That experience informs our choice of gates, accommodation, guides and realistic field plans.
Nagzira is part of the larger Navegaon–Nagzira Tiger Reserve, which includes several protected areas. They are not one interchangeable tourism block, so the exact gate and forest area must be confirmed.
Chorkhamara and Pitezari are key approaches, but the right choice depends on permit availability, lodge location and your travel route. Newer or reopened access is considered only after its current status is verified.
The FDCM complex associated with Pitezari is described as an inside-core accommodation experience. Availability, facilities, access and current operating rules must be confirmed before it is included.
No. Nagzira is especially rewarding for leopards, wild dogs, sloth bears, gaur, deer, birds and its lake-and-forest landscape. Tigers are present, but no sighting is guaranteed.
Two nights provide a compact introduction. Three or four nights give a more natural rhythm and repeated time with the forest; keen photographers may prefer longer.
Nagpur is the usual air gateway, while Gondia and Sakoli can be useful depending on the gate and rail plans. We calculate the transfer after confirming the accommodation side.
We have established relationships with experienced Nagzira guides and can seek suitable arrangements, but final allocation remains subject to current rules, rosters and availability.
Your proposal specifies the accommodation, room category, meals, transfers, safari sessions, gate, permits, vehicle and guide arrangements, together with exclusions.
No. Nagzira is a wild landscape. We use local knowledge and sensible field time to improve the quality of the experience, never to promise a particular animal.
